Pastor Kennetta C. Carter has a great passion for people of all ages.  It has been evident in her ministry through the lives she has touched, the saved and unsaved.  She has a heart for people and desires for all to live a holistic life.  She endeavors to be a light in the midst of a dark world through her preaching, teaching, pastoring, service, and witness.

 

Born in Marietta, Georgia, Kennetta at a young age gave her life to Christ and sought to serve the Lord in all ways.  She was very active in the church serving in various components.  It was during this time that she discovered she was led to lead people and found herself in leadership positions in whatever activity she was a part of. She has served in the African Methodist Episcopal Church as a Steward, Christian Education Director, YPD Director, Missionary and Youth Minister.

 

Pastor Carter is well educated and trained for the ministry. She graduated from Florida A&M University (Bachelor of Science Degree), Webster University (Master of Science Degree), and Turner Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity Degree). 

 

Pastor Carter, an Itinerant Elder, is currently the Pastor of Greater Payne African Methodist Episcopal Church, Jacksonville, Florida, making history as the 1st Female Pastor of the church. She is the former Pastor of Roberts Mount Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church, Atlantic Beach, Pastor of Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, Lawtey, Florida, Saint James African Methodist Episcopal Church, Jacksonville, Florida, Greater Saint Joseph African Methodist Episcopal Church in Sparr, Florida and the full time Pastor of Pastoral Care and Assistant Pastor and Children and Youth Pastor at Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida for 20 years.

 

Upon arriving to Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, Lawtey, the foundation and frame of a new church was erected.  In six years of ministry under the leadership of Pastor Carter, a $500,000 new church was built, completed and dedicated on May 25, 2013. 

 

“To whom much is given, much is required.” Pastor Carter, a multi-gifted leader, preacher, teacher, and builder has been given many responsibilities.  She has served in the African Methodist Episcopal Church on all levels: past staff of the Connectional Church Growth and Development Department, served on the Daytona Beach District Board of Examiners, 11th Episcopal District Christian Education Curriculum Committee (Pasto Secretary), 11th District Evangelism Department.  Currently she serves on the Suwannee North District Board of Examiners (Chair, past Secretary), the East Conference Board of Examiners (past Assistant Secretary), 11th Episcopal District Board of Examiners (Secretary), 11th District Board of Christian Education, Christian Education Director of the East Conference, Women in Ministry (Conference President, Past Treasurer), WIM District (Past Present), East Conference Board of Trustees and on other committees on the Conference and District levels. 

 

Making history again, Pastor Carter is currently the Treasurer of the East Conference making her the first female treasurer in the East Conference and first in any Conference in the 11th Episcopal District.  She has been a Delegate to the General Conference for the past two General Conferences and was an Alternate Delegate for two General Conference previously.  She is active in various Civic and Social Organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

 

Pastor Kennetta Carter, a builder of people and churches, inspires to empower those she encounters, lift the broken hearted and be a light to the lost.  She believes in the power of prayer and that she can do all things through Christ who strengthens her.
